Everyone is sick, at least at work. I guess its that bird flu that’s going around. But I’m not, thankfully. Am I doing anything different? No. First off, none of this bird flu scare has stopped me from eating chicken sandwiches. On a semi-related note, I really wish people around here would stop taking advice from Channel 9 News, who seem to exaggerate everything that happens. Though if you want your newscast to include interviews with pro-wresters, stories about babies blowing up, “hilarious” footage from a 7-11 robbery gone awry, and warnings as to why baby powder, Dr Pepper should not be mixed, and a reports as to how “hot” mp3 players are these days, plus you absolutely need to know exactly when these stories will be airing, down to the exact minute, then its for you.
But also, have I taken my flu shot? No, and I don’t intend to. Every year there’s some flu epidemic that sweeps NYC and ever year I’m totally immune, despite not taking the shot, and I don’t intend to jinx things, especially now when I have a big weekend coming up. Katie’s coming to the city and staying over for the weekend, plus there’s the costume wedding on Halloween.
Like every year, I’m confident I’ll be flu-free this season. I guess that’s a fair trade off for all the stomach problems I have…

Some real quick video game related bits & pieces:
- As mentioned previously, folks who pre-ordered Shadow of the Colossus were luck enough to receive some really neat bonus, including a shirt and a DVD. Well someone’s managed to rip the Nico preview vid from it, and posted it here. And trust me on this one, it’s well worth the download.
- And here’s another video of Project Gotham Racing 3′s Chinatown/Brooklyn track, this time featuring the photo mode. Once again, its finally nice to see a game that truly screams next-gen and validates some of the 360 promise.
- Sticking with racing, its been revealed that the upcoming Sega Rally 2006 for the PS2 will include the original arcade (Model 2) version emulated. Sound great…. I just hoped its not as messed up as their Virtua Fighter 2 release from earlier in year.
- Plus check out this video for Trackmania Sunrise Extreme. It’s fucking insane… Man, I hope this gets a next-gen console port.
- So Sony is now actively asking for new game ideas from both professionals and amateurs via open auditions. Interesting.
- There’s now an English version of Hideo Kojima’s blog. Also, its been revealed that his upcoming collaboration with Frank Miller (Metal Gear Solid BDis nothing more than an interactive comic for the PSP. Bummer.
- 1UP recently published this terrific look at the past 13 years of Treasure. After all these years, and I’ve yet to encounter anyone who’s every played Ragugaki Showtime. And GunBeat sounds like a spiritual successor to Virtua Hamster. I think its about time to whip out this picture yet again…
- Spike TV’s Video Game Award nominees for this year have been revealed. I love how for best action game, two of the nominees aren’t even out yet. I also love how Carmen Electra is once again involved in yet another televised video game award ceremony. Seriously what the fuck does she do aside from appearing at such shitty things?!?!?! Is that literally how she makes a living?
- For you King of Fighters fans out there, here’s a new trailer for part XI. it’s all about DREAMCANCEL.
- And for those of you who enjoy video games mixed with fine art (and Rubix cubes), here’s everything all mixed together.
- And for those of you who enjoy video games mixed with creepy sex art, check out this Dig Dug-sex-type thing.
- Played We Love Katamari for a good while last night, so I’m in a Katamari mood, plus it being Halloween and all, what better time for this….

Meanwhile, elsewhere on the web…
- Here’s another Halloween-related-thing; some guy’s AT-AT costume…
- As mentioned a short while ago, I’ll be dressing up as Superman, still in his Clark Kent garb. Which reminded me of those of old Superman covers from years past. This one still has to be my all time fave…
But this one’s pretty hot too.
- I know you can find them virtually anywhere, but here’s another collection of crazy album art from the past. My favorites…
- Time for more “art”: if you’re from San Fransisco and love Jell-O, rejoice…
- And time for random video from the web: first up, here’s some poor Japanese kid being constantly bothered by some overzealous Power Rangers.
- Joe pass this along last night; a music vid featuring Skeletor and Beast Man.
- And this is just really stupid.
It’s really been a while since I’ve fucked around the web, looking for stupid shit. It’s great to be home again.
