There’s a chance that you may have already heard about Press Paws, the upcoming art show that strives to raise money via video game inspired artwork, to help support What’s Up Dog! LA, a 100% volunteer run nonprofit dog rescue.

And if so, you may have already seen the Indiegogo page, and maybe even a few examples pieces. Like the one above, by the always awesome Jude Buffum. But have you checked out the show’s homepage?

There’s you’ll find even more, like the following by Kiersten Essenpreis. Which might be my favorite of the bunch thus far, if only because I loved Spinies so much as a child…

Also just unveiled is this awesome Meat Bun shirt featuring the supremely talented Mariel Cartwright, whom most might be familiar with via Skullgirls (though she also did the cover to the third FORT90ZINE)…

I will admit that I am a bit surprised that Mariel chose not to go with Haunting Ground‘s Hewie and Fiona. Which I guess might be a bit too obscure for most folk. Oh well!

The shirt is available to everyone who contributes to the Indiegogo drive, at the $75 level, plus there’s plenty of other cool stuff that can be acquired as well. Including a dog bowl that features the work of Paul Robertson!

And if you live in the area, the show takes place on February 9th at Gallery Nucleus. Again, the homepage has everything you need, information-wise.

Because the last Instagram dump was right before Christmas, the first one of the New Year is filled with post-holiday cheer!

OK, I realize how passé it is to post pics from Xmas 2012, over two weeks after the fact; hey, been mad busy. Much of it due to Attract Mode related business! Get ready for some big news in the coming weeks/months.

Till then, what you see above you is the cute little pixel wreath that VideoGamesNewsYork whipped up. It’s a one stop shop for all your hardcore gaming needs, at least here in the Big Apple. Are you building an arcade stick? Cuz they got parts…

Elsewhere in the city we have a clearly nonplussed kid having his picture taken with Mario, that Iasmin Omar Ata caught. I’m guessing it was his parents’ idea…

You see, it’s not just any Mario, but one of the many costumed derelicts that hang around Times Square, mooching off tourists. Fun-fact: just days after this photo was taken, Nintendo’s mascot was arrested for groping a woman.

Moving on, the holidays are about friends and family spending time with each other. Here we have Paul Owens, hanging with East Coast peeps, Jenn De La Vega to exact, firing up Xbox Live to catch the world premier of Minecraft: Story of Mojang

The holidays are also about tradition. As for myself, each and every Christmas Eve; I play Christmas NiGHTS and watch the Pee Wee’s Playhouse Christmas Special

But what presents? Here’s a quite dapper Asteroids tie that I got from Santa that following morning…

Whereas many other folk got Wii Us that same day. I love this pic that Kris took, if only because it looks straight out of a quaint English Christmas morning, circa 1984…

Speaking of a blast from the past, here we have Danielle Lavoie‘s parents playing Intellevision back in the day (while also enjoying a nice, tall Budweiser)…

Internet superstar Lacey Micallef posted the most hilarious, ghetto-tastic Angry Birds airbrushed tee imaginable a while back, which she later found under the tree. “It’s a Christmas miracle!!!!!!” she proclaims. Indeed…

Speaking of apparel, here we have a fab looking, limited edition shirt from Daruma Studio

And a Metal Gear Rising sweatshirt from Uniqlo from Japan that I’m thinking of picking up (I still need to figure out what size to get)…

Though what I really want is this glitch scarf that Jonathan Bobrow owns…

Meanwhile, Stu Brett has gotten himself one of those sexy looking Dreamcast bags that Insert Coin produces…

And here’s Basse showing off an Space Invaders ice cube tray that Attract Mode used to sell in the way early days…

It’s Peter Pallares‘s Zac Gorman/Sonic The Hedgehog button from Fangamer, which I believe is one of the numerous and super cool freebies you get when ordering from them!

Another staple of the holidays is Christmas cards, and here’s one that Maré got, along with some bootleg Pokemons…

Maré also got that 3DS photography zine that Eric featured on Tiny Cart not too long ago

Speaking of zines, Ted recently posted this mouth-watering preview the other day!

And speaking of your mouth, Grace Thymine often posts pics of Japanese candy or anything Dragon Quest related, and often the two will intersect…

She also spent her Xmas playing a few rounds of Bara Bari Ball it would seem…

Yet another game being projected, OH MY DOG! I think, or at least that’s what Jennie Faber calls it. No doubt something that got whipped up at Bento Miso, the space that she and her husband runs in Toronto (which is home to game jams all the time)…

Lamar Abrams sez: “It’s ok Donnie it’s just a little boom boom”

Nullsleep is all about glitches, and was therefore quite pleased with this messed up pile of polygons from Trials HD

On a similar note, the following has been brought to you by Anamanaguchi’s Ary Warnaar and Monster Energy…

Even more massive air time, via POLStyle

As noted in the past, if you’re going to follow one (semi) famous game maker, let it be SWERY. Here he is, before tequila…

And after…

Joe Teach shows up how having matching accessories can make your gaming handheld all the more sexier…

I’m a total sucker for customized cartridges, and it’s not often you see someone do something with those propriety Genesis carts that EA produced. But alas, that’s just what MANWOLFS

I’m also a total sucker for workplace pics. Here’s where John Ricciardi pays the bills…

John also states that the following still adorns one of the poles at the Shibuya train station…

Last time I posted a pic that Dave Roman took at the Museum of the Moving Image. Here’s two more, of the original Star Wars arcade game that’s part of their permanent collection. One that’s somewhat buggy, to the point of resembling Rez, as Dave also notes…

So how did I spend the last few days of 2012? By producing silkscreened covers for fort90zine #1 (with a considerable amount of help from my pal Colleen AF Venable). Both the special “Black Label” variant, which is an exclusive for Kickstarter contributors, and a few regular ones, which will adorn the final run of the first issue. The latter is headed to the Attract Mode shop, hopefully by the end of this month…

As for the aforementioned George & Jonathan fueled NYE bash, it was pretty boss…

The first major game related gathering took place last weekend; MAGFest. Unfortunately couldn’t go, which super sucked, since everyone was there. Including Asif and Paul, who were on-hand to present and discuss their new flick. Which was also available at Fangamer’s booth at the show…

There are plenty of other awesome things to buy as well. Check out this assortment of classic Fami-carts that Diego Garcia stumbled across. What I would do for a boxed copy of Otocky

Though MAGFest is also for playing stuff, with indie games getting an even bigger piece of the spotlight. Including everyone’s favorite, Johann Sebastian Joust

But the star attraction of the show is the live music, and the reason why I’m so pissed that I couldn’t go was the guest of honor: Yuzo Koshiro! Who apparently tore the house down (big surprise)…

As for why I couldn’t go, and another reason for this belated post; just spent the past week in Las Vegas, covering the Consumer Electronic Show for one the outlets I write for. Games used to have a sizable presence, until E3 came along. But at least the Oculus Rift was there, and let me tell you, it is AMAZING…

Time to wrap it up, with one last pic, courtesy of Chris Person. Of a rather lonely looking N64 that had dumped onto the street…

Courtesy of Morgan Conley comes the Famicom Software Project, which emphasizes the latter half of the console’s full name, that being the Family Computer.

To be honest, it’s not the wackiest ideas in the world. After all, Nintendo did release Family BASIC in Japan, which allowed one to create their own games for the platform.

The above reminds of the time someone created a special cart that allows the Sega Genesis to run Mac OS, which again is not too far-fetched, given how that system’s main processor is the Motorola 68000, which was the heart of Macintosh during its earliest days.

Unfortunately, I’m unable to find any images online, circa 2013 (happy new year, by the way). Though this old Sega-16 forum thread has some details. Anyhow, Conley also created the following to show what the Famicom version of Photoshop would be like…

Thanks to Albotas for the head’s up!
