Day 8: Harajuku (continued)
Eventually headed over to Takeshita Dori, which is the main drag in Harajuku…
Which again was packed with clothing shops…
My favorite had to be this one shop that had some pretty awesome novelty shirts….
And again, stuff for your dog…
Next was Kiddie Land, which is apparently this super famous toy story. There was like eight floors, each packed tight with all sorts of crazy stuff like these monkey umbrellas….
And these dogs that humped your USB slot. If they were also flash drives, I would have bought five in an instant, but alas they were not…
Blocks of digital people that you combine with others to form some “neighborhood” was pretty popular…
Also still popular is Totoro…
Even more Rilakkuma goods…
Bears where everywhere!
There was just so much to soak in….
Video games were to be found as well, but only the Wii, which I guess makes sense, it being a toy store and all….
And directly blow the games, a bunch of Animal Crossing things…
They had a huge section dedicated to just miniature… stuff.
Oh, the best bathroom of the entire trip…
So Keith and Anney had brought with them their cat costumes with the intention of suiting up and possibly making a scene at Takeshita Street. Unfortunately the weather was starting to turn crappy, but since it was their only real chance, the two decided to give it a shot, even if it was only for a few minutes (their costumes are powered by fan, and if rain got into the system, since there’s exhaust vents, it could ruin the mechanics).
Again, I did double duty operating a camera of theirs, but I still managed to snap a few pictures of my own all along the way, from set-up to walking around…
They only got about ten minutes of action, but it was enough. And it went far better than the night before; they decided to prance around in Yakuza town, and kept tackled by drunks. They all thought Anney was a huge gay cat (due to the color pink I guess). Pretty crazy, and dangerous, stuff.
One last pic before heading out, of some robot themed barbershop…
