I Walked Through The Valley Of The Shadow Of Orpah: New York Comic Con & Super Week 2014 Part 6

by Matthew Edward Hawkins

Ready for another stroll through this year’s New York Comic Con? All last week I presented the very best in cosplay that I personally encountered. So what’s next? Toys!

First up: a forthcoming, super deluxe version Optimus Prime, perhaps the most impressive of its kind (yes, even more so than Takara’s Masterpiece editions). I forget how much he was listed as, but I seem to recall that it being in the $500+ range…

Now, Prime is an official product, whereas Shockwave… sorry, Quakewave is not. I’ve purposely stayed an arm’s distance from the wild, wild of fan made Transformers. Cuz the more I know, the less money I’m sure to have…

Everyone’s favorite father and son duo from a long time ago and in a galaxy far, far away (that’s not Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker)…

I suppose it was only a matter of time in which we got a figure commemorating Boba Fett’s debut in the holiday special…

Then you had the very first Boba Fett figure, still sealed, which are then sealed once more…

Much like in the world of Transformers, some have taken upon themselves to make improvements on assorted Star Wars toys. Though in the case of the latter, changes are often made for the sake “art”…

Sorry, but this stuffed Jabba the Hutt looks a bit too close to his ill conceived appearance in the Episode 4 Special Edition

After I finally have that first million in the bank, gonna get myself a sexy large replica model of the Reliant, this one to be exact…

Speaking of Star Trek, guess I missed the memo when the cross over with TMNT happened…

The entire crew of the Love Boat, ready to set sail onto your toy shelf…

Turns out, Barbie ain’t the only plastic gal who needs a beauty salon…

One of the best/worst parts of NYCC is being confronted with the chance to replace those much beloved toys from your childhood, though the asking price can often be steep. Then again, is there no price too high for happiness?

Though it also provides a second chance to get that special something you always wanted but never could the first time around. Like Pee Wee’s Playhouse toys…

Yup, there was once action figures based upon Police Academy, which also had a cartoon…

I dig the idea of finally having something on my toy shelf related to my favorite movie of all time…

Walter Whites in a variety of colors…

Here’s your reminder of how amazing Batman Returns was (and still is)…

Am assuming the number one thing when anyone asks, upon seeing figures that are based upon the Avengers comics and not movie, is ”What’s up with Iron Man’s suit?”

I will never not take a pic of Iron Man’s Silver Centurion armor if I ever come across it…

As noted in the cosplay round up, Guardians of the Galaxy was hella popular in the toy section of NYCC as well…

As also noted, whereas Attack On Titan cosplay is not as prevalent on the expo floor this year, it’s as red hot as popular in the display cases…

Puella Magi Madoka Magica’s still hanging in there in the collectables arena as well…

No rundown of the toys of NYCC is complete without at least one Gundam pic…

Any Maschinen Krieger ZbV 3000 fans out there?

Up close with Romulus, one third of 3A’s World’s Best Robots trio (his bros, Remus and Mars, sport white and red paint jobs respectively)…

Guess it was also just a matter of time in which Super Sonico made an appearance in the West…

Big Boss and Raiden, who’ll be ready for action once they’ve applied their make up…

And finally, for now at least: never before had Freddy or Jason been so supa kawaii…

… That’s it for now. Come back tomorrow for even more crap to consider blowing your money on!
