I originally thought today was Father’s Day, but was just informed by my own dad that it’s actually next Sunday. Oops.

Still, given that E3 is literally around the corner, aka one of the craziest times of the year when it comes to video games, now might be just the time to take in serene scene of a father enjoying some Xbox 360 with his son, as captured by wife/mom Jinny Koh.

Though video games are for the whole family, so here we have Kyle Reimergartin‘s wife and daughter spending some quality time with their PSPs…

Plus here’s a picture of a picture of an elderly couple playing OutRun that the Arcade Hunters came across during their last visit to Funspot, at Weirs Beach…

And thus we have the latest Instagram dump around these parts, the first in almost two months! Much has happened since then, including Mother’s Day. Which Bento Miso, our partners for Comics Vs. Games 2, celebrated by holding a game jam in which everyone got a little help from dear old mom…

According to Jennie Faber, we’re looking at Sprout, “a game about a little family that lives in old photos”

Along with Doubt Cloud, which is “about the Sysyphean undercurrent in game dev”

And here’s a shot that was taken presumably during the lead up to the Bit Bazaar…

I’ve already shard a bunch of my snapshots from Toronto, but did I mention how I ran into Mega Man X? He lives near Mathew Kumar (was on my way to watch some crappy movies at his place)…

Meanwhile, back home, my buddy Steve Flack found a Mario block in Brooklyn…

Some pixelated skills in Israel, as spotted by Cesar Quintero

And a pixellated no smoking sign on some Japanese college campus that Jean Snow encountered…

So I was wrong about Father’s Day, but I do know that Animal Crossing for the 3DS came out today. Haven’t nabbed my copy yet, though I’m already worried that my tenure as mayor will elicit the same warm and fuzzy feelings that Pablo Castro is showing Tom Nook…

Back to Japan; Uniqlo recently released an entire line that’s Monster Hunter related, as John Ricciardi shows us. Which includes shirts…

Keychains…

And underwear?

Speaking of threads, check out this awesome Endless Fantasy LED jacket that James of Anamanaguchi fame recently spotted…

Meanwhile, bandmate Ary shares a bit of equally awesome fan art they are often bestowed with…

I know I’m preaching to choir here, but Anamanaguchi are an absolute must see live. Especially these days; not only is the latest album their absolute best, but Infinity Shred is touring with them, who are plenty rad themselves…

I agree with Lee Nicholls; this IS a good gig poster!

Just found about TORIENA, a Japanese chiptuner. She seems pretty cool…

Hey, it’s James Mielke, just waiting patiently for MotoGP to arrive for the Vita, that’s all…

Milkman has also been showcasing his rather extensive collection of video game threads on Instagram. Hopefully we’ll eventually see one of those super rare Rez tees that you have to be a pal with Mizuguchi to have…

Once again, Karen Chu love to cosplay with jogging, and managed to convince a pal to do the same…

Speaking of dress up, it’s Corgi Link accepting Gaming Jesus into his life (at least I think it’s a corgi; maybe it’s a mix, I’m not totally sure)…

Phillip David Stearns demonstrates that often the prettiest pixels are the ones that are stitched…

Tom Rauwerdink also shows that pixels make a good headshot also…

Via a friend of Kat Morris‘s; can you guess what she really wants for her birthday?

Kimika Sweeney loves to draw stylish threads as much as she enjoys wearing them, and she gets inspiration from two very distinct sources…

Seriously, have you ever seen someone draw Bomberman like CherrySlug?

Even crazier is this “Slime Elixir”. CherrySlug explains:

“In this ongoing collection of miniature paintings, I have flooded containers with resin and embellished each layer with ink. By suspending these painted flat forms in transparent liquid they transcend a two-dimensional appearance. Producing shadow while maintaining a wet appearance to the eye.”

Here we have Jake Smith, making one of those sexy as hell Mega Drive prints that you may have seen here or there…

Nicholas Gazin‘s Virtual Boy…

And Dominique Ferland‘s rendition of Raiden (which reminds me, I’ve yet to beat Metal Gear Rising)…

When he’s not overseeing the Shorts department of Cartoon Network, Phil Rynda can be found doing doodles of Mega Man…

Though as we all know, Lamar Abrams does a mighty fine rendition of the Blue Bomber himself…

I’ve seen a few flasks that resemble E-Tanks, but fireatwill247‘s is the best one yet…

Gotta love where SQ puts his keys…

An “Antique Mario” that Jordan Kim dug up somewhere, and a kinda creepy looking one at that…

On the other-hand, this custom made figure from Plastic Cell is rather eye pleasing…

I really dig this Pac-Man X Steve Jobs by Jeremy Ville

Meanwhile, Peter Kassel spotted Pac-Man trying to eat his way to across Manhattan into Williamsburg…

And Kumar came across this record that tells the time Pac-Man checked out a haunted house, with a rat wearing suspenders as his guide…

As well as this VCR game based on Robocop, which has thankfully been edited in a way so it’s suitable for the wee ones…

Stu Brett recently added a N64 to retro gaming collection, or at least tried to. Those scummy eBay sellers, always lying about their goods…

Stu loves showing off his fave SNES games, which he plays in a rather suitable environment…

The same could be said of Billy White‘s set-up as well (I’ve never done rum and Dr. Pepper; might have to give that a shot)…

Games loves to blow off steam by playing games too, apparently, as Heidi discovered when visiting the Computer Spiele Museum in Berlin…

I need to ask Alex Kiefer where in the hell I can play Time Judge

Not sure if this is the aforementioned title, but it sure as hell looks like my kind of game…

Apparently, Zack Kotzer enjoys 8bit cricket…

And I too love replacement game covers made by bored game store employees…

Chris Furniss (whom we saw at the very top) recently got himself a copy of the Ice Pokézine…

And time for another peek at Jed Henry’s Ukiyo-e Heroes, which Samit Sarkar spotted at the Sakura Matsuri Japanese Street Festival here in NYC (which I can’t believe I missed)…

Said it before, but I’ll say it again: am SUCH a big fan of Bastien Vives

Would love for him to do something for Attract Mode, but I can’t seem to get ahold of the guy! So perhaps posting all these illustrations he did for some French gaming fest might hopefully cause a blip of his Google Alerts…

You may have seen Olly Moss‘s take on Snake (in a previous Instagram dump actually), but have you seen him do Max Payne, Link, Master Chief, and Master Onion?

Apparently, ketta_gg (who normally posts pics of toys and model kits) and his buddies all love the MSX, so they asked for the following when they all hung out a maid cafe in Akihabara. I really, really love Japan sometimes…

And as if the previous combination of food and games wasn’t bizarre enough (thanks Lacey Micallef)…

Every spring the NYU Game Center recently holds a fighting game tournament called Spring Fighter, appropriately enough, and this is one of the custom sticks they assembled for this year’s installment…

Meanwhile, over at the UCLA Game Art Festival, Jinsoo An shows us…

It would seem that er1ks is a fan of M.U.S.C.L.E. (as were most children from the 80s, myself included)…

Raina Lee is in Taiwan at the moment, where they’re having some kind of sand castle festival…

Back to Mr. Super Famicom Guy for a quick sec; check out this not so bad exercise in Final Fantasy fandom and typography…

And back to Kumar; perhaps you’ve seen Knight and Damsel elsewhere? His TOJam game got quite the buzz when it was first revealed…

And here we have Dominique’s contribution, which is about goats and brains from outer space or something…

For those wondering, the LA Game Space Game Pack is coming along splendidly. This here is Golden Age:moths by Resn…

The other day I finally decided to check out the games that the MoMA here in NYC recently made added to their collection. Like Vib Ribbon (I love watching people give it their best shot for the first time)…

And the original version of Tetris! The OG Game Boy version is still king, naturally, but I still prefer this over all the recent iterations (especially those rather poopy iPhone versions)…

Guess who just got an OUYA? Robin Hunicke, that’s who…

In a few hours, I’ll be in LA, ogling the future of gaming. Though much like Andrew Yoon, I might be more inclined to take pictures of people taking pictures of the future of blah, blah, blah, like he did at the Xbox One “reveal”…

And finally, my plane leaves in just a few (am taking the redeye, ugh). Guess what’ll be reading on the ride over? Why, the very least issue of Game Developer Magazine, which just arrived in the mail…
