Regarding the Mail thing, how many MB (or GB) are we talking about? You might be able to upload it to an IMAP server (which admittedly will take time) and then redownload it (or leave it on the server if there's room) into, well, any IMAP client out there... or just leave it on the server, because you can. If you've got a spare box lying around to put Linux on and can stick a big HD into it, you can even set up one of your own, and have it poll your POP3 account, and never have to worry about this problem again.

I haven't set this up myself, but both the server where my e-mail is hosted and I-CON's server provide IMAP, and also provide SquirrelMail on top of it for webmail access.

I'll be at NY ComicCon for Saturday. Going in to walk around, try to talk to some of the gaming and anime industry folks at their booths, and generally see who's around. I'll try calling you when I get to the site, after I drop off a couple bundles of I-CON newsletters...

Matt,

I don't know if 1and1 has IMAP support with their domains, but what you should do is setup an IMAP account at fort90.com or somewhere else (fort90 would be the best bet since you won't have to worry about exceeding quotas... I'm guessing you have a lot of mail), and put all your mail there from Tiger's Mail.app. By doing that, you'll have your email backed up somewhere in a standard MBOX non-Apple Mail.app format. (You could conceivably use one of the numerous Gmail uploaders to back it all onto a Gmail account as well, IMAP would be easier though.) Once you're there, -then- reformat your eMac with Panther and reimport it into Panther's mail client... whose format I'm pretty sure is still proprietary, but not like Tiger which totally different from anything else due to its support for Spotlight.

Really, if you hate Apple's software so much you should just stop using it. I'm always going back and forth between Safari and Firefox and Mail.app and Thunderbird. Each have their virtues, but only the Apple ones can really screw you. Also, never assume that downgrading is gonna be a smooth process, on any platform.

That being said, Tiger is still awesome.

I don't have either Unlucky minis, so I need to buy them off of you.

Also, I think I want to go to ICON this year, so we should talk about that.

I, unfortunately, am getting the 2 disc version.

Which is still okay, in my book, since I've never played the 2 MSX Metal Gear games and tried using a MSX emulator a while back and found it confusing.

I still haven't completed my normal version yet though. XD
