Yes, I still buy original Dreamcast games when possible. To be honest, I'd be more into the whole back up scene if...

- I knew where to find them. I've never been good at finding that kind of stuff.
- I didn't use a Mac; far as I know, you need a PC to properly burn a game that will work on the DC.
- Burnt DC games in general didn't feel so sloppy. Given the difference in media (DC games used a proprietary format, GD-ROMs) which held a gigs worth of info, that means that stuff often gets reshuffled, compressed, or even totally lost in the translation.
- And I don't know if this is 100% true, but I hear that playing CD-R based games will eventually burnt out your system. Hence why I was rather happy to get a new system.

As for 2D fighting on the DC, I actually use this Ascii pad which works out rather well. And for the record, the very best 2D fighting pad very, IMHO, is still the Genesis 6 button one.

Regarding Chinatown, you couldn't find a decent game or dvd shop?!?! Jesus Christ... Well if you choose to torture yourself by stick to just main streets like Canal and Mott, and therefore deal with annoying tourists, I guess you wouldn't have come across the good shops, which trust me, are definitely out there.

And as for the UCB, I haven't been there in ages and I think its about time I stopped by. As for the groups, I'm a true blue Respecto fan. Monkey Dick? They're sorta "eh".

Wait a tick...you buy DC games? Check the back of your console. Manufacture date pre nov 2000 and you're good for cd-r's.

Good lord I love me some DC. Get the PS2 saturn pad and a total control converter to use it on your DC and you have the ultimate 2D fighting setup (if you think pads>sticks).

We visited Chinatown for the first time this weekend. All the vendors have the same stuff and inexplicably, everything seems to cost $5. And the tourists on the sidewalk stop at every shop forcing us to walk in the street around them. Couldnt find a cool game/dvd shop :(

We went to the UCB theater Fri night and saw Monkey Dick's set. The wife and I love that theater, even in a so-so set there's a couple comedy gems. This one was just ok...
