On water poisoning: There was more than blowing off the nurse. Another person had heard of the risk of death from drinking too much water, but apparently wasn't sure if it was true or what the context was. She asked if it was dangerous, and was assured that there was no risk.

Where I'm at, local news stations mention the various dangers of drinking too much water every summer. Because invariably, people will do it either in the summer heat, or when returning inside.

On Blu-ray porn: The news is everywhere, but some have been saying the whole claim is questionable. Supposedly there is already porn either slated for or already out on Blu-ray. Not something I care to research heavily though.

Actually the DJs were warned on air by a nurse about water intoxication, which shoulders the responsibility on them for not really informing the mother of the dangers.

Because, as was pointed out by this blog post, nobody really expects to be killed by something that at the same time allows them to live. The mother was only thinking that it'd only make her a little sick or something if she wasn't explicitly warned of the dangners.

Ah well.

If you think about it, Katamri Damacy was kind of a budget title. Until it's sequel and PSPquel came out. Also Blaster Master: Blasting Again only set me back $10. So I guess budget title isn't a totally dirty word.

Man, White Van Racer sounds awesome. Also, I'm really surprised that the radio DJ's didn't know the risks involved. Then again, the only way I found out about it was due to a fraternity hazing ritual gone wrong a few years ago. Shitty.

Well, its only natural that the PS2, as steps away from the spotlight, becomes the officical home for el-cheapo, shovelware titles. After-all, even though it may not be as popular, there are many units still out there, and often they get handed down to friends or family members who aren't avid gamers, and folks like Phoenix kinda capitalize on this.

And the thing is, as Earth Defense Force X proves, budget software isn't necessarily a bad thing. Even on a limited budget, they can be excellent, sometimes better than games from AAA dev groups. In fact, the PS2 is now open for a whole slew of smaller dev groups that will finally get their chance to show their magic. Though unfortunately, such instances are somewhat rare. But its still out there!

Though what I find most interesting is how the very definittion of "budget games" has changed with the times. Some of the stuff that's considered low-budget would have been impressive years ago! At least looks wise...

You never think of water as a chemical, but it is. The radio station should've contacted a few doctors just to be sure that the contest was safe for the contestants. I was watching the news last night(it snowed in Malibu) and the DJ pretty much said they said they were okay, the contestants signed waivers and such. Goes to show your job isn't safe if someone dies.

Drinking too much can also get you to pee out all your electrolytes too. It happened to my aunt, she drank water all day in big glasses before she made herself sick.

Ah well, I'm kind of disapointed the PS2 is becoming the machine that everyone ports budget shovelware to nowadays. Considering games like Okami and God of War prove there are still a few tricks left in the machine to learn and use.
