To Live And Game in NY: A GameSetWatch Special Report

by Matthew Edward Hawkins

So the holiday weekend was overall quite nice. There were some definite let-downs (I’m mostly bummed out/pissed that I wasn’t able to catch the hot dog eating contest in Coney Island, plus the weather’s been sort of annoying), but there were plenty of plusses as well (the last two Asian Film Fest flicks were quite nice, plus got to play some games and relax with some friends).

I’ll go into greater details later on, but what I’m most happiest about is that I finally finished that report for GameSetWatch that I’ve been working (and have mentioned a few times here and there) about for the past few weeks. And you can finally check it out here.

I’m actually quite pleased with out how it turned out and hope that its of some use. Then again, it’s pretty much the only article out that tries to chronicle the video game culture in New York, at least that I know off. Enjoy!

Oh, and special thanks should go to MK for helping me edit the piece!

Actually, the Tic-Tac-Toe playing chicken (or rather, the last in the series of tic-tac-toe playing chickens) came to a happier end: http://www.upc-online.org/spring98/tic-tac-toe_chicken.html

I always got a kick out of the modified sign that just read “World Famous Dancing and Tic Tac Toe”.

Well that’s awesome news! I’ve looked everywhere and the only real thing that I’ve ever found concerning the chicken’s fate has been this, which paints a less than happy ending. And it totally corroborates the first tale too!
