Colored blocks on a computer screen are becoming increasingly popular as a means for artistic expression. Though for the most part, it’s young folks who have embraced the medium of pixels. But not Hal Lasko, aka “Grandpa”.

Lasko is 97 years old veteran graphic designer. He used to create typefaces entirely by hand, without the benefit of a computer. Something that’s almost inconceivable, even to those of us in our mid-30s.

Lasko also used to paint, until he developed wet macular degeneration, causing blindness in the center of his vision. But that’s where Microsoft Paint, introduced to him by grandson Ryan some 15 years ago, came into play.

Thanks for the heads up Michele!
